Royal Wellington
One of New Zealand's most beautiful and historic golf courses, a world renowned venue.
Royal Wellington is one of New Zealand’s premier parkland golf courses, and since its foundation in 1895 has hosted a number of national open and amateur championships.
Our club values its heritage while seeking to ensure that our members, their families, guests and casual visitors can enjoy their golf in a contemporary and fun environment.

We have two golf courses; the recently redesigned championship Heretaunga course, complemented by the nine-hole Terrace Course. Both courses have magnificent views of the hills, wonderful trees and are bordered by the Hutt River. With a variety of tee positions, the courses cater for golfers of all levels of ability, including those just taking up the game.
Royal Wellington welcomes new members to come and join the fun. In addition to the golf courses, we have three all-weather tennis courts and a swimming pool and BBQ area to enjoy in the summer months. Associate (Social) memberships enables the use of the non -golf based facilities and activities.

Our club house provides a warm welcome to members, their families and guests, whether it be in the café for a pre-round bite of lunch or the bar overlooking the 18th fairway for a post round beverage and the monthly Sunday roasts.

Royal Wellington has a number of membership categories to meet the needs of women and men golfers of all ages. We also have a thriving junior membership, ‘social memberships’ and provide coaching opportunities suitable for girls and boys just starting the game of golf as well as game improvement lessons and playing packages for everyone including beginners
Royal Wellington consists of two courses; the 18 hole championship Heretaunga Course and the nine-hole Terrace Course. The former is the recently opened (2014) redesign by Greg Turner and Scott Macpherson. The latter is composed mainly of holes that were part of the former championship course but not used for the redevelopment.
The club has world class practice facilities, built during and after the renovation of the main course. Adjacent to the first tee and club house are the practice green, chipping green and bunker. Just across the stream is the all weather driving range, with two covered booths, a huge grass teeing area, and a synthetic surface at the rear for use when the grass is not in play. There is also another small chipping green.

The golfing needs of visitors and members are taken care of by head professional and his staff, who book your tee time, organise shoes, clubs and carts for hire and can even give you a lesson. You will find the staff friendly and obliging. The golf shop is open seven days a week.
The swimming pool, constructed in 1960, is in a fenced-off area to the west of the club house. It has changing sheds, table and chairs and a barbeque and is open for use by members and visitors during the warmer months (October to March). It has solar heating to extend its period of use. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Please leave the area, including the barbeque, neat and tidy after using it.
Royal Wellington is ideally suited to a range of functions or events, such as weddings and receptions, anniversaries, wakes, birthday celebrations, conferences, as well as functions associated with golf events. Royal Wellington also has smaller rooms with associated facilities for corporate off-site meetings.
